Mountain roads require planning and smooth control. Keep speed low and margins large.

Hairpins

• Look far through the bend; choose a clean line
• Use a lower gear before the bend; avoid shifting inside the turn
• Keep extra distance to heavy vehicles

Gradients and braking

• Use engine braking early on descents; avoid riding the brakes
• On long descents, take breaks to cool brakes if needed
