Blind spots around heavy vehicles

Large vehicles have extensive blind spots and different dynamics than cars. Knowing where you are invisible helps you avoid conflicts.

Where are the blind spots?

• Immediately in front of the cab
• Along the right side and behind the trailer’s rear wheels
• Diagonally behind the left rear corner
• Directly behind the vehicle

Stay safe

• Give trucks more space when they turn; trailers cut the corner
• Do not linger next to the cab or rear wheels
• Pass decisively when safe; fall back if not
• Watch for turbulence when overtaking or being overtaken
